Tour of Belmont House 2026

Tour of Belmont House, 177 Grose Vale Road, North Richmond.

Meet at 9:00 for a 9:30 departure from the Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre, 328 Hawkesbury Valley Way, Richmond, where a café and restrooms are available.

It is a 20 minute drive to Belmont House, which is situated in the grounds of the St John of God Hospital.

Parking is on-site.

Arrive at 9:45 for the 10:00 two-hour tour.

The cost is $25pp.

Bulk payment is required, so please RSVP to the club.

The minimum number for the tour is 15.

A grand Victorian Italianate sandstone mansion, built 1890-92, the historic estate now serves as a local heritage landmark and administrative centre within the hospital grounds.

Building began in 1891, and the outer wall stone was quarried in the Grose and Parramatta quarries and brought up river on a large barge.

Philip Charley brought back terracotta, terrazzo tiles, marble and stanchions from England, and engaged artisans from England and Italy.

Known locally as "Charley's Castle", the mansion has fifteen ground floor main rooms with a courtyard in the centre.

Lunch is from 12:30 to 1:00 at the nearby Butler's Pantry Café, 41 Yobarnie Ave, North Richmond, a 5 minute drive from Belmont House.
