VARA University 2027

YOU ARE INVITED to join us Jan 23rd-24th 2027 for the University of VARA.

The two day school will be held at Buttonwillow Raceway Park (Classic Track).

The curriculum includes classroom sessions, skid pad, braking, and lots of track time.

There are levels of instruction from beginner to veteran, with expert instruction from VARA's Master Instructors and many of VARA's top drivers.

This year there is a Gold Group, designed for experienced racers.

It covers advanced techniques such as racecraft, advanced braking, and setting up passes.

The Gold Group is only for race prepared cars and for those who have started the Rookie Program or have a Full License and wish to get seat time.

The school is open to both street cars and race cars.

The licensing program is only available to race prepared cars, but all drivers receive professional instruction and one-on-one in-car instruction.

The University counts as two weekends toward your VARA competition racing license, which is recognized by all major racing.

A physical exam is not required.

Registration and tech are at the track on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

All cars must pass technical inspection, including street cars.

Drivers need SNELL 2015 or newer rated helmets (M rated is OK in street cars only; no DOT helmets).

Long sleeves, long pants and gloves are required in all street cars for on-track sessions and exercises.

Convertibles are allowed with a roll bar installed and seat belts; factory auto roll over bars are not accepted.

Seat belts are required in all cars.

Race prepared cars must meet the current VARA Rules safety requirements.

The entry fee is $650, which includes a weekend membership if paid before Jan 7th; it increases to $675.00 after Jan 8th 2027.

Entries are limited and there has been a waiting list in past years, so sign up early.

Sharing cars is not recommended.

Entrants receive an acceptance package about 10 days before the event.

Camping is permitted at the track, and the track is 90 miles from LAX Airport.
