The Toyota Automobile Museum, a cultural facility of Toyota Motor Corporation, hosts its 36th Classic Car Festival under the theme "The Widening Web of Automobile Culture".
The festival aims to bring together people across generations, geographic boundaries and circles of car enthusiasts, from car experts to those who rarely come into contact with classic cars.
The day starts with a public road parade of about 120 privately owned classic cars from 1996 or earlier, from Japan, the U.S. and Europe.
The starting ceremony is at the Toyota Automobile Museum at 8:30 and the parade runs 8:30 to 10:45, travelling about 12 kilometers through Nagakute City to Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park (Moricoro Park).
A Toyota 2000GT Roadster leads the parade, and spectators can cheer it on along the route.
At the park from 9:00 to 16:00, the parade cars are on display.
There is also an exhibition and demo runs of 11 vehicles from the museum and seven Japanese automakers, and a display of specialty work vehicles including a fire engine, an ambulance, a police patrol car and a Self-Defense Force high-mobility vehicle.
Children can have photos taken in a uniform beside a working vehicle.
Other items include a marching band performance, a walk and talk with the museum director, a talk with former Nagoya Grampus player Shohei Abe, and a Kick Target Challenge where the highest scores win prizes.
Admission is free.
The festival runs rain or shine, and some events may change in the event of rain or other unforeseen circumstances.
